Study of feto-maternal outcome in patients with hepatitis E infection during pregnancy

Background: Hepatitis E is considered as a common cause of high maternal morbidity and mortality particularly in third trimester also perinatal mortality. Thus, this study conducted to evaluate the feto-maternal outcome patients infected with hepatitis during pregnancy.Methods: It retrospective observational department obstetrics gynecology at L. G. hospital. Fifty pregnant women clinical pregnancy were included thorough investigation carried out. Patients monitored till postpartum period fetal monitoring data collected from neonatal ICU.Results: In study, majority B admitted monsoon season suggests that HEV outbreaks are more months. Majority (70%) emergency cases. these (82%) belonged lower socio-economic class. Co-infection HAV was 2% HBV 4%. S. bilirubin >15 mg/dl 16% patients. PT APTT raised 28% FDP 70% 76% delivered vaginally 22% by LSCS. Most complication disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) (26%). Maternal rate 14%. Out 50 patients, 88% live baby, out which 72% needed NICU admission. Perinatal 28%.Conclusions: infection deadly fatal combination. Specifically, 3rd pregnancy, acute has grave prognosis Prevention mainstay controlling especially developing countries.
